Establishing shots throughout the first few seconds of the clips are common within this genre, assuming we create a trailer then these shots are typical key conventions which we would be required to add to the production. The fast paced editing throughout the trailer generates a sense of drama among the viewers which is definitely necessary for us if we are to create a trailer, it will be vital in order to maintain the audiences attention.
Although the two trailers are outdated and not as modern as the previous two, they are representative of the crime-thriller genre which is the direction we're aiming towards. The trailer captures the crime element of the production within its' conventions i.e. slow paced editing which indulges the audience, the enigma codes throughout which captivates the audience thus maintaining attention. The intensity created through the fast paced editing during the beginning of Pulp Fiction differs from the slow introduction of Bella Mafia, but both equally keep the viewers focused. The mise-en-scene such as the the close up shots of the gun and the female characters are key conventions of this genre and are also enigmatic, creating a sense of drama.
Other key conventions such as the texts that appear on the screen i.e. "Betrayal", "Crime" are common amongst this genre but it is difficult to envision us using this in our production as they seem quite outdated and not as intriguing as they may have been in the 90's.
